Hi all .. Im wondering if anyone could provide any info on a problem with my eyesight... For about the last month or so I have been experiencing a floater in my left eye this is worse in bright sunlight.. I work 12 hour shifts in an office using a computer with artifical light .. there is no windows so we do not see day light for at least 4 hours ..so when I go outside on my lunch it is particually bothersome. I have been to the opticans who say that Im slightly short sighted more in my left than right eye.. but other than that my eyes are healthy .. i have never noticed these before and im quite worried. do you think computer use contributes to this problem.. any help would be much appreciated. Im 25.

Welcome to the board Lady,
Nobody has ever made the connection of a computer screen causing the vitreous to breakdown. I did have that same thought when my floaters first appeared, and I still wonder if it could be a contributing factor, but it's only speculation.
A floater being more noticable in bright sunlight is normal. As you've only had it for a month now it's going to be more bothersome now then in six months, assuming it doesn't fade away on its own.

hi,
Doctors bring up all sorts of reasons why floaters appear. the most quoted cause is aging but I notice a lot of young sufferers (below 40, 30 and even 20). Perhaps that has something to do with the fact that more older persons don't use internet as often as young people (don't won't to say that 50 year old people are old lol...but you get the point). Anyway I think that there may be other factors involved such as for example: eating habits, smoking, stress and even computer use. i wonder if someone did research about that.
As for my case, my floaters appeared in a period of a lot of stress (exams) when sitting in front of computer screens at least 10 hours a day (for my thesis). My eyes got very irritated and totally red for 3 days. After that I noticed floaters.tsss...anyway we are 1 year later and i keep on living but I defenitely don't get used to them as many doctors predict!lol.
