When I first got floaters, like many, I freaked - it looked like seeing cellular debris through a microscope. Little did I know that they'd get worse over the years. I have found this site and the many links quite interesting. I respect my opthalmologist since he was so hard to find - he has operated on each of my eyes (10 years apart) for pterygian removal and conjunctival autotransplants. But even he has said that floaters are benign, and not to worry about them. BUT THEY ARE SO ANNOYING!! I was very interested in people saying that they see halos around lights at night. I do too, but I do not understand how that has anything to do with floaters. Also, some people have said that the floaters make their eyes tired. I have found that to be true... or at least I DO partially blame the floaters because it is like having to read through constantly moving crumpled cellophane, and my head hurts. One last thing I wonder about is do the floaters have anything to do with the fact that I cannot focus on small objects anymore even though I should be able to with my glasses - but I still can't. -Jeanie

Hello and welcome Jeanie,
I'm glad this site helps answer some of your floater questions. It has been rather quiet here lately, but there are lots of threads to read.
I think you are right that floaters can cause some mental fatigue as they can be a continual distraction. As far as affecting your ability to focus, I have only heard of it in cases of extremely big floaters blocking the central visual axis. Little floaters swirling around shouldn't be the cause of your eyes being out of focus. You might want to look into having your eyesight checked to see if you need a new prescription.
Regards,
Larry
