Hi, my name is David, and I'm suffering of eye floaters.
I can remember I was already having floaters when I was 6, I can also remember I was totally ignored when I asked my parents about what I saw.
I started to be nearsighted at age 7, and now (I'm almost 28), I have -5.50 left eye, and -4.75 right eye. when I was 18, my eye doctor told me people nearsighted have the liquid in eye more fluids than others and by moving it can scratch the retina, he asked me if I see flashes, I said no, but he made a retina exam anyway, then said eveyrthing seems fine, except there is nothing he can do about my floaters.
when I was 17, I got a new "big" floater on left eye, after being punched in the face by a drunk guy in a party at school. the next day, I could see a new floater... and it's the most annoying of the floaters I have, I keep remembering that guy every days because of it
since then, I didn't notice any more new floaters, last year, I drawn them so I could show them to my wife (she finds me annoying complaining about them every days). There is just one floater (the big one in my left eye), that seems to have slightly changed recently, it's looking like a reversed "C" made of some kind of protein stand, and it seems to have a new strand I didn't notice before.
It's really annoying, and make me quite mad, specially when I didn't have enough sleep, I also realized it was dangerous when driving because sometimes I tend to look at them instead of the road... or just keep moving eye to try to make them go away.
My wife gets pretty upset when I complain about them, I know I probably will have to tolerate them all the rest of my life, the only thing I can tell myself is that at least I can see... and it could be worst.
I never noticed "flashes" except few times when I been hit on the head (when play sports for example). Something I notice sometimes, mostly when I sit a long time, and then stand up suddenly, is many small white dots dancing, and fading within few seconds, anyone noticed these? is it normal?
