I am 26 and have had floaters for maybe 2 years. I have had lasik and really wonder if that is to blame...but my floaters didn't start immediately but years later (lasik was 5 years ago). One other possibility was a blow to the eye about 2 years ago...but I have floaters in both eyes and not just the one that got hit (by my rambuctious little brother accidently). The last possibility is a pregnancy in which I had high blood pressure. I really began to notice the floaters during this time. I wonder if it damaged my eyes. My floaters are both spots and threads when I look at light colored surfaces (like computer screen and doctors offices drive me crazy with the flourescent lighting and whitewalls!) and then what seems to be hundreds of transparent little moving spot and squiggles when i look into the sky..this is when I struggle the most. It makes me not want to go outside. Sometimes I see a small dot of light ever so briefly and then wonder if I really saw it...I think that is related. In darkness sometimes it seems like I see some bright spots too...hard to tell. Anybody share these experiences?

god! i have floaters in my left eye too! i had no preg. no lasik , this started maybe last year (im 28) and i asked the doctor about it and he said that ill just get "used to it" well guess what.. no i havent. i find wearing polorized sunglasses helps me somewhat when im outside.. try rayban or maui jims.. they are expensive but you know what its at the point that i hate going outside too and it kinda takes the edge off. the dr said that you can have a laser operation to help but im scared

Hello.
Well, as many of those who come to this board, I have floaters for 1 year. At night, it is normal to see small flashes when you change rapidly the direction of your look. What it abnormal is to see flashes during the day, or without making your eyes to move quickly.
My ophthalmologis explained to me this little lights we see (even floaters-free people) append when the movement of the eye pull gently on the retina. This occurs when eye movements are considerable and brief.
