HI, I LIVE IN CONNECTICUT, I AM 53 YEARS OLD AND HAVE HAD FLOATERS FOR SOME 30 YEARS. I FIRST NOTICED THEM AFTER A CAR ACCIDENT WHERE I HAD WHIP LASH. THEY ARE BOTHERSOME AND ANNOYING AND I HAVE HAD SOME SUCCESS IN CONCENTRATING ON LOOKING PAST THEM. BUT I HAVE NOTICED AS I STRESS OUT THERE SEEMS TO BE MORE OF THEM. THE MOST ANNOYING PART IS SWATTING WHAT YOU THINK IS A GNAT AN IT'S THE FLOATER.I HAVE ASKED DOCTORS WHAT CAN BE DONE AND MOST SAY NOTHING , LIVE WITH IT. EVEN ONE OF MY FORMER EYE DOCTORS HAS THEM.THANKS FOR THIS SITE. GOD BLESS

Hello Donna, I'm glad that you've had some success on ignoring your floaters to an extent and totally understand what it's like. One opthal I met casually said he has floaters too but obviously he means only 1 or 2 hardly noticeable strands. Many of us have 10-15 maybe even more . The more severe cases have floaters obstructing vision (which is only when most surgeons are comfortable doing and FOV - which is not so good for the rest of us because we have a lot of persuading to do). Thanks for sharing your experiences Donna, take care!
