Hi, I am new to this so please bear with me. Here is my story. On Sept 5, 2004 I had lightning flashes in my left eye. Later that day I had a spot in my left eye that looked like india ink webs in oil. I went into urgent care where an eye specialist was called. The specialist found a tear in my retina but did not have a laser at the facility to make the repair. Being a holiday weekend in the US another doctor was called to open a clinic the next day to make the repair with laser. On the second examination the next day the doctor diagnosed two tears and told me I had a condition called "lattice degeneration". He sealed the area with the laser. The day after the surgery (Sept 7, 2004) my vision was almost totally obstructed from floaters. I went back in to the clinic because I thought the retina tore again my vision was so clouded (murky). I left for Florida on September 8, 2004 in a truck. My good eye was so strained from trying to focus with the repaired eye I finally covered the bad eye with an eye patch. Returning back to the Midwest on Sept 13, 2004 I had tried several times using both eyes without the eye patch. The eye was cloudy with floaters but some vision had returned. The strain trying to focus with both eyes still made it unbearable without covering the bad eye. While making the drive back I built a device that controls the direction of movement of the floater(s). It also disrupts the message the retina transmits to the brain making the floaters almost invisable. Within 45 minutes of using the device my bad eye cleared and the strain was gone from my good eye. On September 18, 2004 I took a USA Federally required physical for truck drivers and passed. My vision in the repaired eye was 20/25 corrected. On September 30 I went for a check up with the surgeon that did the repair on my left eye my vision was 20/20 corrected. The floaters were congregated at the bottom of the eye (retina) according to the surgeon. When I do not use the device the floaters return dark specs, ameba looking ones as well as the grey specs. I did not know floaters were such a problem until this happened to me. My device is not a cure but rather a way to control the floaters. Help for many of you will be forthcoming once the patent process is complete. I write this to give many of you who suffer from floaters encouragement that something is on the way to help. My hope is you all will have the same result as I . [floatercontrol@comcast.net
