Hello to all, Found this excellent website looking for info on why I can't see and why the opthalmologist did not care. My GP referred me (rightly so, as I'm learning) but the specialist received me very poorly. Indeed, even though he told me I probably "just had floaters", driving was probably illegal for me, and I needed new glasses, he actually got angry with me for wasting his time. I very much want to complain, and not just to you folks. Please advise. Thank you! By the way, I'm in Canada.

Dear Joanne, Your experience with your Dr. is a very common one. Perhaps you should write a very blunt letter to him expresing your frustration as well as a letter to the medical ethics board in Canada. Be sure to let your Dr. know of your letter to the ethics board. This will cause him to have a more considerate attitude towards his patients in the future (although perhaps not towards you).

He told you that driving was illegal for you? I can't believe that he would be so dismissive about you having floaters, and say something like that at the same time? I've heard of people with incredibly bad floaters that drive with no problems. Have you previously worn glasses, did your sight get noticably worse at the time you noticed floaters?
